I’ve had many thrift excursions on a time crunch. Many times I’ve run into the store on my 30 minute lunch break and came out with bags full of deals. But there is always a method to my madness. Often times I can’t follow all my effective thrifting rules but I try to do as much as I can to find great deals even if I only have a little bit of time on my hands.
Get you Mind Right-This is definitely step one. When shopping, especially in a thrift store, one can easily get overwhelmed. Go in knowing what you’re getting into. If you’re looking for something in particular, stay focused on that item. But even when you’re on a casual shopping spree its important to wrap your mind around the shopping experience.
Know Your Budget- Keep yourself on track by setting a budget before walking into the store. Anyone can get easily off track when a sale in going on. This can even entice you to buy items you don’t want or need. So make sure you stay kind your finances and set boundaries beforehand.
Skim the Rack– I make it point to visit all the relevant racks. I know this may seem crazy when in a time crunch but I have an effective method for this. I walk through all the racks running my hand over the hangers. This allows my eyes to focus on the colors, patterns, textures and quality of each item prior to pulling it from the rack. I don’t waste time on items that I know wont interest me based on those criteria. But when something catches my eye I take time to thoroughly look it over.
Shop the Sale First– I know I always say this. But its important to always start with the best deals. If you run out of time for the rest of the store, at least you can come up on a few great items.
